Hell freezes over, part 3: Back from the printer

I was heading out to do some grocery shopping this afternoon when I decided to do a quick check of email on my phone. I was not expecting it, but one of the messages was from the local printer who was handling the printing of TMNT #32. He said the books were all printed, and I could come and pick them up.

Which I did.

And here they are.

(Well, some of them -- there are about seven other boxes.)

So it looks like (barring some kind of brain fart which would lead me to forgetting to put any in the car before I leave for Maine) I will have copies of TMNT #32 for sale at the signing at Shellback Artworks on May 4. Yay! -- PL

  1. I am SO excited for this! No pressure or anything, but this is literally the longest I've ever waited for a follow-up issue to any comic in my life. ;-)

That said, I never once lost faith it would happen! (Okay, maybe once.) Now, I just have to figure out how to score a copy, since I live about 1,200 miles from Shellback…

  3. Woot! :)

Hopefully someone can pick me up a copy at Shellbacks. Now... any chance of seeing issue #31 printed? :)

  4. Is there any chances of #31 being printed as well? You posted the scans of it online a while ago, but I think they were all deleted unless I'm mistaken and can't find them. That was the only other issue of Volume 4 that was completed but never printed, is there any chance of a print run for that issue too? Thank you.

    1. TMNT Volume 4, #31 can still be seen on this blog at the following URL:

There is a very good chance that #31 will see a physical printing, but it probably won't be for a few months. -- PL

  6. Will there be any physical printings available for us who can't attend the Shellback Artworks? I'd love to get my hands on a copy

  7. I so totally want one, but I can't be at Shellback, regrettably.

  8. Wow! So good to see this!

I would love a copy, I have every issue of Vol. 4 so far, so really hope that you have some available online after the Shellback signing.

  9. Thank you for getting the book done so fast.

Will it be possible to purchase multiple copies to provide to those who can't make it to the signing or would you be able to say if the books will be made available on Mirage's website?

There have been numerous requests on the forums about picking up additional copies for those who won't be able to attend.

    1. I'm not sure how many of the 1000 copies I will be bringing to Shellback, or if Steve is planning to limit how many copies one person can buy. -- PL

    1. I think the plan is for Shellback to have exclusive sales for a short time, then the remainder of the copies will go on sale via the Mirage website. -- PL

  11. I can't make the trip to Shellback Artworks, (I live all the way in New York City!), but I'll buy a copy immediately when you guys put it up on the Mirage website for sale. I always get really excited when a new issue of Volume 4 comes out, and its been quite some time for this one too. Can't wait to read it eventually!

  14. Sort of unrelated to this - I was planning to bring a TMNT #1 to the signing that you and Kevin had first signed in 1984 at the Portsmouth debut convention....I was hoping to get an updated pair of signatures for the 30th anniversary!

Will that be okay? I wanted to make sure it's something you guys would sign.

I was really hoping there was a way I could authenticate it as signed at that event - but I'm not sure what acceptable proof I could bring...

    1. I don't see a problem with signing that first printing again -- however, it would be next to impossible to authenticate its provenance. -- PL

    2. Rahfa, just get an event flyer or ticket pass or something that only you could get by going to that event. I’ve always saved these sort of items for when I get something really special signed and just keep them bagged together.

  15. Fantastic news! Hoping to snag on via mailorder for my collection. Here's to hoping this series eventually gets completed. I was very interested in seeing the outcome of everything and enjoyed it greatly.

  16. I'm pretty excited about this. I dug a lot of the threads you had going on in Vol. 4, and I'd love to see 'em tied up.

  17. Peter, thanks very much for keeping this alive. I'll keep buying these as long as you keep making 'em!

  21. I think I snagged the last copy you guys had. Just cracked it open.

I have to say I've very much enjoyed the parts of volume 4 I've read. Very different from the old mirage volume 1 and the current IDW comics (can we call it volume5?) but I'm enjoying it all the same.

I very much hope to be able to continue buying volume 4 issues from you in the future, know that we're all pulling for you Mr. Laird :)
